What We Believe
There is one and only one living and true God. He represents Himself to us as three persons (or Trinity). God the Father, the first person of the trinity, reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the history of the world. God the Son, Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, was sent by God the Father to die for the sins of the world. After being buried, He was raised on the third day. God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity, lives in every believer to transform him or her into the likeness of Christ (Ephesians 1:13-14).
The Holy Bible is God's inspired, written word. The Bible is the revelation of God's purposes in history and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, and is the disciple's normative guide for daily living. All people are separated from God by their sinful nature until they trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9-10). Salvation is from God and by God, not by any works that people can do (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The church is the visible presence of Christ in the world today, and it is the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22,23). The church is composed of baptized followers of Christ who share one Lord, one faith, and one baptism (Ephesians 4:5). The church is not a place, but a living organism made up of people.
Each follower of Christ is called to be a witness in the world (Acts 1:8) and to make other disciples (Matthew 28: 19,20). Each disciple has a place of ministry within the Body of Christ. God has gifted each believer with at least one spiritual gift for the purpose of building up the body and carrying out God's mission in his or her life (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:11-13). God, who created the world, (Genesis 1:1), is the same God who will bring it to its end (Revelation 21). History is moving purposefully to its completion in the purposes of God.
As God Leads you
We would love for you to become a member of LHBC. There are several ways you can join:
1 - By Profession of Faith in Christ & Baptism. After you have placed your faith in Christ, you will need to be baptized in obedience to Him.
2 - By Baptism. If you have already placed your faith in Christ, but have not been baptized since doing so, you will need to be baptized to join LHBC.
3 - By Statement. If you have placed your faith in Christ and have been baptized as a believer, but are not a member of a Baptist church, then you may join LHBC by a Statement of your commitment and obedience to Christ.
4 - By Letter. If you are a baptized believer in Christ, you may join LHBC by transferring your Letter of Membership from another Baptist church.
