Children’s Youth Report

February 2010

We have started getting together our egg supplies and ingredients.  Bonnie Snyder, Rhonda Pedigo, Pat Ball and Jessica Ball have been a wonderful asset in Easter egg production.  This year we are looking to train several people in the kitchen to help with the mixing of the eggs.  Pat will soon be moving to Middle River Church and she will not be able to help us next year.  Her dedication to this huge fundraiser has been overwhelming.   If you are interested in helping in the kitchen, please see me.

Super Wednesday’s have been going strong.  Attendance has averaged about 45 kids each Wednesday.  The youth have increased, while the PreK kids have decreased.  The weather and sickness may be a factor.

The Super Wednesday Fun Night for the PreK-5th graders was a trip to the YMCA to go swimming.  They had a ball!  Everyone was on their best behavior and was asking when they would be able to go back.  Many thanks to all the adult supervision we had that evening.  It is a task trying to keep up with that many little ones in the locker room and helping them change their clothes.

The Super Wednesday Fun Night for the youth involved a self defense demonstration from Annease Martial Arts.  Michelle held their attention with n o problem at all.  They seemed to connect with her right away and were very much into all that she had to show them.  I believe if she stayed a bit longer, she would’ve had them ready for boot camp!

I’m still trying to make visits with some of the kids.  I visited Cheyenne Cale at school and got to meet her teacher and friends.

Our Youth/Parent/Youth Worker meeting was held to discuss many upcoming important details.  A copy of this can be found on the youth bulletin board outside my office.

The youth were to attend Acquire the Fire in Richmond the end of January.  However, due to the large amount of snow that was expected (and came), we decided to not attend the event.  The tickets have been transferred to the Baltimore, MD Acquire the Fire which is May 7-9.  I WILL NEED a driver to assist us!

The theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School is……EGYPT-Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace!  It is going to be an awesome event, involving a marketplace, and adults dressed in Egyptian clothing!  Mark your calendars for June 21-25 to help with this fun, rewarding event.
